hey what i would do is get ahold of the manufacturer of each type of lure and buy it streight from them instead of going through a dealer. it i bought lures from a dealer that means that the price is gonna be higher. if you get it streight from the manufacturer it will be a whole lot cheaper, hinse you can charge less and keep buiness flowing in. if you can be the second person on the totum pole instead of the third you will be better off in price. unless you streight have to go through a dealer stick with the manufacturer. hope that helps you a bit good luck good fishin be safe and remember to share the experience

oh yea, did yall figure out a name for the buisness

Get a Rep through a distributor.

You can easily become a dealer for Bass Pro/ Cabelas/ Etc, Etc, Etc.

The problem with major tackle distributors?? You have to buy in LARGE quantity’s and you must carry a certain AMOUNT to become a dealer.

So if your Uncle is looking to start his company “on a shoe-string” going the major dealer route won’t work.

The only other respectable route would be buying off of EBay.

Ebay has occasional deals on tackle that “spank” any dealers prices…….

I’m a dedicated fisherman and purchase quite a bit of tackle online.

Here are some examples from EBay:

This is just a few examples. With a little looking and investigating you could easily stock a store with custom lures and overstocks.

The key to purchasing fishing tackle is knowing the demographics for your area and what types of fishing is the most popular. Once you know what fish is the most popular, (2nd popular, 3rd popular, Etc), you would need to learn about correct lure colors for your region, weights, sizes in reels and rods, Etc.

Selling fishing tackle is like selling shoes or clothing- everyone has a different taste; but there are “basic” designs that will always work.

Hope this helps? Good luck.

Try E bay.

Best idea is to contact Pure Fishing who are manufacturers/importers for many well known brands. Ask them for wholesalers in your area, you need to go through a wholesaler as Pure Fishing won’t sell direct to any stores.
http://www.purefishing.com/menu.cfm?p_menu=330&cm=330

Also do the same at http://www.daiwa.com and ask for their wholesaler list.

There are also other companies like http://www.maurice.net who carry a lot of stock.

Your uncle will need to have a reseller/business license from your state as well.

From the suppliers or manufacturers. You can get the list of suppliers and manufacturers with contact details from http://www.hellotrade.com search for the product from this website and you will get a list of suppliers. You can even send trade inquiry to suppliers directly from this website for free.
