I want to buy my boyfriend fishing gear, but I have no idea what I’m doing.?
My boyfriend is currently living in Kansas, myself in Pennsylvannia. For St. Valentine’s day we’re sending eachother a car box. Inside his box I wanted to put fishing gear (he loves to hunt and fish) but I know absolutely nothing about fishing. Any idea what kind of stuff I should look for?
The only local store I know of is dicks.
And I don’t know what stores are by his college, I don’t wanna get a gift card that he can’t use.

You should go to a sporting goods store, tell them that he lives in Kansas. He prob fishes for bass and the like. They can help put a custom combo together in your price range.
Can’t ever go wrong with a gift card from Gander Mt., Cabela’s, Bass Pro Shop, Dick’s, etc..
Guaranteed he’ll enjoy it.
He probably fishes for bass if he lives in Kansas. You can order fishing gear off of cabelas.com or just go to a local sporting goods store. I’ll give you some links to equipment your boyfriend would want in his tackle box, then you can decide from there on prices, and whatnot. If you don’t know exactly what he fishes for go to the very last link and it’ll cover the basics. If you have trouble go to a local fishing or sportsman store and ask for some fishing gear. Good luck
try an online gift card to bass pro shops or cabelas and you can’t go wrong- that way he can pick anything out that he wants
Don’t even think about buying fishing tackle for him.
Instead, send him a gift card so he can purchase what fits his fishing style
I agree that the gift card is the way to go. If you’re worried about him not being able to use a certain store’s card, send a Visa or Master Card gift card. You can get them at the grocery store or Wal-Mart.
Since you don’t know what he has, it’s best to let him pick it out. Fishing and hunting gear can be a pretty personal decision. Would you let him pick out your shoes? That’s the question I always ask my wife, and she has learned to get gift cards.
I’m sure he’ll appreciate it.
The others are right about the giftcard.
Most fishermen are so particular about their gear, you would probably not get him what he wanted.
Go with the gift card and let him pick what he wants. Look for Cabelas, Gander Mountain, Bass Pro,etc… on line and see which has a location close to him. Cash and Visa work everywhere.
If you want to be more personal than just a gift card, first you have to find out exactly what he is fishing for, Bass, catfish, crappie, ect. and how he likes to fish for them. for instance. Bass. Top water lures include Heddons, Zara spook, or Torpedo. Buzz baits also work great in the spring during spawning. This time of year when the water is cold slow moving baits like plastic worms and jigs work best. I hope this helps. Feel free to email me
