How much would these fish tank supplies cost me?

I’m setting up a 20 gallon tank soon and i already have the filter, tank, stand etc.

All i need is the fish, the filter supplies, the gravel, a gravel vac, and plants…how much would those approx. cost me for a 20 gallon tank?

Not sure if this helps but.. i would be getting all of these supplies at Petco. Thanks
For fish i’m thinking about 8 zebra dianos..
And if i get 8 zebra dianos i would not be overstocking because zebra dianos can get up to 2.5″ so if i use the 1 gallon per fish rule 8 would make it right on 20.

Expect to spend around $100 for all of the supplies. Go to Petco.com and you can price everything out there. I have 3 tanks right now, and I have zebra danios myself - very active fish! You will need the tank, a good filter, a hood with light, thermometer, heater, net, gravel, plants, decor (a nice rainbow rock would do), water conditioner, aquarium salt (i recommend this - it helps prevent disease), and a good water test kit. On Petco’s website they have pet care information and information on how to set up a freshwater tank & information about water quality and the nitrogen cycle. I find the website is very helpful.

Petco has a site you can use to get an estimate on prices if you need: http://www.petco.com/Fish-Home.aspx

Filters: http://www.petco.com/petco_Page_PC_productlist_Nav_222_N_24+112.aspx (Cheapest one I saw for sale at a petco store was $30 D:)

Plants: http://www.petco.com/Shop/ProductList.aspx?PC=productlist&Nav=482&N=4294965958 (Saw some for $2.99, no idea what kind of plants they were though)

Hope it helps :D

at leats $100 dollars. yesterday i bought filter supplies, gravel, plants, and decorations and it cost me about $80, and i have a 10 gal tank. fish for ur tank may cost at least $20 and im not sure how much a vaccum is.

First, the gallon per fish or one inch of fish per gallon rule does NOT work. That rule is only meant for beginners to give them an idea. But it does it horribly. Can a 10 inch oscar fit in a 10 gallon tank? Or a 24 inch arowana in a 24 gallon tank? Both of those are big nos. DO NOT follow these stocking rules, ever.

The fitler supplies? You mean like the media and such? It depends on the filter you have. Biowheel filters are expensive to change the media. Most other filters you can buy what you need for less than 8-10 bucks. But if you need the actual filter, you are looking at the 30 dollar area.

Gravel… Its something like 3-4 bucks for a 5lb bag. You probably need 3-4 of these. So about 12 bucks here.

Gravel vac, I bought mine for about 9 bucks.

Plants. Do you want live or fake? Fake plants are cheap but I dont think they look good. Live plants are around 3 bucks each on average but look so much better. This really depends how much stuff you want in your aquarium.

You could do your 8 danios and have room left. This is why the stocking rule doesnt work. It doesnt account for how much waste each fish produces. Danios dont produce much waste. You could then do 4-5 cory catfish for the bottom, which again, dont produce much waste. And you could probably put a dwarf gourami in there and be perfectly fine. The danios will nip the fins of long finned fish, so dont add any fish with particularly long fins (guppies and bettas come to mind).
