I would like to see every fishing net tagged with the owner ’s ID, and they need to be responsible for retrieving it.
Was the net eventually removed from the ocean?
According to the local authorities there’s about 35 miles of “ghost net” like this one just floating around. The size and type of net is the only real determining factors on where it came from, and without sounding racist, the majority of ghost nets hauled out come from thailand and surrounding regions. Net CANNOT be discarded into the ocean.
THATS JUST AS BAD AS LEAKING OIL INTO THE SEA but no one can see it so nothing is done,please tell me there are plans to clear the fishing gear,or at the very least tied up to minimise the impact
