very good. I myself practice casting as soon as I bring the rod home, and luckily I did so to find that this Ugly Stick I perchased, was, contrary to their slogan, not the strongest in America. The rod itself is fiberglass and probably could take tension like a dream, but I simply placed the rod down, and it’s own weight snapped off the “EZ Cast” trigger, and I didn’t want to bother with it anymore past that point, so I got my money back. I then got ahold of the new Berkley Fusion, much better.
